Apparently every female artist with respect for herself go through a spider period. For example Louise Bourgeois has done amazing spider artwork. Something I looked into as I investigated my own proces with this fascinating yet frightening creature.

The spider came to me in dreams and bit me and for my inner eye in relaxed states. It has lasted for a couple of years, who knows if we'll continue our love / hate relationship for a lifetime. She is also connected to cosmos and the transcendent somehow – in my experiences. After I painted my interpretation, I decided to research the symbolic nature of spiders. This is what I found. And some of it also within myself.

The Grandmother Spider, as she is called, is well established in ancient mythologies and native beliefs. The spider is the centerpoint and creator that weaves the whole universe, Earth and all our stories – together in one big net. Our collective consciousness. She has the ability to see behind the visible and beyond time. And she is the archetypal mother.

Intuitively, this led me to paint her body as a radiant crystalball. In it she sees everything – from that, she creates and plays. She's also in contact with her own aggression and ability to protect, as she is a primordial animal.

She is here to remind us of our innerknowing. If we want to connect with it: No fear of the answers or emotions we will find within ourselves.

This takes courage and transformation. But in reward we will gian the protection of our own primordial power.

Say hi to our primordial grandmother. She is spinning down from a higher perspective and is a wise one.
